| ‘펫 CONTACT 펫쓰담 플로깅’, 수익금 및 후원 물품 한국유기동물복지협회에 기부
[SIRI = 유혜연 기자] 한국외국어대학교 글로벌스포츠산업학부가 ‘펫 CONTACT 펫쓰담 플로깅’을 통해 얻은 수익금과 후원 물품을 유기동물 지원을 위해 ‘한국유기동물복지협회’에 기부했다고 6일 밝혔다.
‘펫 CONTACT 펫쓰담 플로깅’은 작년 개최된 ‘아이 CONTACT 비대면 걷기대회’의 후속 대회로, 아동 보호를 위해 진행했던 지난 대회에 이어 또 다른 가족인 반려동물과의 의미 있는 시간을 보내고, 플로깅을 통해 환경을 보호하기 위해 기획된 비대면 플로깅 대회이다.
본 대회에는 고라니프렌즈, 개님의 상점, 디어닥터킴, 리그라운드, 보나쥬르, 프로팩스토어, 아이앤지메딕스, 유니룩스, 종근당 바이오, 중앙바이오텍, 크로노, 페토이, 하이포닉이 후원사로 함께했고 참가자 모두에게 기념 티셔츠, 포토카드, 뱃지, 손소독제, 생분해성 비닐장갑 및 봉투, 마스크, 락토허니티, 하이포닉몰 쿠폰 등이 제공됐다.
5월 19일부터 5월 30일까지 12일의 대회 기간 동안 참여자들은 각자의 장소와 시간에 맞춰 플로깅을 실천했으며, 총 155시간 32분의 시간 동안 549.12km의 거리를 걸었다.
주최 측은 대회 수익금과 더불어 유니룩스, 개님의상점, 종근당바이오, 보나쥬르, 프로팩스토어, 리그라운드, 아이앤지메딕스와 함께 현물 후원을 통해 총 900만원 규모의 기부를 쾌척했다. 후원 물품 및 기부금은 한국유기동물복지협회에서의 유기동물 지원 사업에 활용될 예정이다.
주최 측은 “꾸준히 대회에 참가해주신 참가자들에게 감사드린다. 본 대회를 통해 사람들이 유기동물 문제와 환경 보호에 관심을 많이 가져주었으면 좋겠다.”라며 대회 참가자들에 대한 감사를 표하였으며, 유기동물 및 환경 문제에 대한 지속적인 관심 제고를 권장했다.
한국유기동물복지협회측은 “의미있는 활동을 함께 진행하게 되어 기쁘다. 유기동물 문제에 대해 사람들이 더 관심을 가져주었으면 한다. 또한, 길거리에 있는 많은 동물들은 각자의 사연을 가지고 있기에 ‘버려졌다’ 라는 의미의 유기동물보다 긍정적인 어감의 단어로 부르는 데에 대해서도 우리 모두 고민이 필요할 것 같다.” 라며 유기동물 인식 개선에 대한 필요성을 강조했다.
